Atlas Backcountry is a mentorship and coaching service that helps people learn to hunt, fish, backpack, and navigate the outdoors. Instead of offering fully guided trips, we focus on teaching you the skills to plan and execute your own adventures with confidence.

Not in the traditional sense. Unlike fully outfitted guided trips where everything is done for you, Atlas Backcountry is about teaching you the skills to plan and execute your own outdoor adventures. I’ll be with you every step of the way, providing hands-on coaching while you take the lead in learning to hunt, fish, and explore with confidence.

Not necessarily. I can provide some loaner gear for beginners, and I also offer gear consultations to help you decide what to buy and what can wait. If you’re just starting out, I can guide you through prioritizing your gear purchases based on your budget and needs.

All trips are custom-tailored to your goals. Some options include:

• Backpacking & camping trips to learn navigation, survival skills, and gear use

• Fishing trips (fly fishing, bass fishing, or general fishing instruction)

• Hunting mentorship (small game, big game, upland birds, and more)

• Trip planning assistance for DIY hunters, anglers, and backpackers

Yes! I provide guidance on the licensing process, regulations, season dates, and the Arizona permit draw system so you know exactly what to apply for and when.

I can help with basic marksmanship for hunting, including rifle setup, sighting in optics, and general shooting fundamentals. I also offer archery training for hunting, covering bow selection, setup, tuning, and shooting techniques to help you get started or refine your skills. However, I do not offer tactical or defensive firearms training.

All trips take place on public land in Arizona. I can recommend some great locations based on your goals, experience level, and the type of trip you’re looking for. However, if you have a specific place in mind, it’s entirely up to you—we can tailor the experience to the location that works best for you.

Pricing depends on the type of experience you’re looking for. I offer:

• Free initial consultations to discuss your goals

• Paid gear & trip planning consultations ($50–$100)

• Custom mentorship trips, which vary in price based on duration and complexity

I primarily work with individuals or small groups (such as a parent and child, or two friends wanting to learn together). This keeps the experience personal and hands-on.
